Botox (Botulinum Toxin Type A) Botox ® relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles. It is most commonly use to soften frown lines and "crows feet", but can sometimes be used in other areas of the face. Botox is also used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), particularly of the underarms (see below). Dr Brigid Lee at the Skin Rejuvenation Clinic has developed a special interest in Botox treatments. As a medical practitioner she has a detailed knowledge of facial anatomy and each treatment is tailored to the client's individual facial characteristics and requirements.
Injectable Fillers These are the treatment of choice for lower face rejuvenation and lip enhancement. We use a number of wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers which are all made up of hyaluronic acid (Restylane,Juvederm). These are temporary fillers whose effects last about 9-12 months. They are used for lip enhancement and to treat deep lines and furrows, for example the naso-labial folds which run from the nose to the mouth corners, and finer lines, for example so-called ‘smokers lines’ which run vertically from the lips and often cause lipstick to ‘bleed’.
A combination of both botulinum and filler is often a very effective treatment for unwanted lines, particularly in the forehead for frown lines.
Radiosurgery An excellent way to remove benign skin lesions, moles and skin tags. This is a technique using high frequency radio waves to remove the unwanted lesions with minimal damage to the surrounding tissue. This results in a very superficial wound, which usually heals with minimal or no scarring.
IPL- Intense Pulsed Light
At The Skin Rejuvenation Clinic we use IPL to treat:- Sun damaged and photo-aged skin that shows irregular pigmentation , fine lines and freckling from chronic sun exposure. There is a visible improvement after a series of treatments. Erythema – which is a flushed red appearance of the skin that initially only occurs following exposure to cold or heated environments or red wine but becomes a constant flushed appearance over time. Clients can expect a 50-75% reduction in erythema/flushing after just 5 treatments Rosacea- is an inflammatory condition of the skin which can’t be cured but can be significantly improved with a series of treatments. Acne-scarring which has left hyper-pigmented areas and erythema can be effectively reduced with a series of treatments. Permanent hair reduction of any dark hair that is unwanted ( IPL can only target hair that has pigment in it – so is ineffective for fine fair hairs)Our IPL machine has FDA approval for permanent hair reduction based on 76% hair reduction at 12 months and 84% hair reduction at 24 months following a series of treatments.
At the Skin Rejuvenation Clinic we use a Quantum Lumenis IPL machine that is a medical grade IPL machine. Lumenis invented and trade marked the IPL technology and are recognized as the gold standard leaders in IPL technology. All our treatments are supervised by Dr Brigid Lee and all our operators are internationally trained with Laser Safety Certificates and approved operator certificates from the supplier.
Chemical Peels Chemical peels are used to improve dull, lifeless skin, blotchy pigmentation, sun damage, fine wrinkles and open pores. We initially suggest a 30% lactic acid peel, which gives a faster result than skin care products but is still a relatively superficial peel with minimal potential for complications. Lactic acid peels are repeated up to 6 times for the best effect at 1-2 weekly intervals. With these peels there is little, if any visible skin shedding, treatment takes about half an hour and there is no need for time off work.
Sweating Reduction Treatment of the axillae (arm-pits) with Botox can result in cessation of problem sweating for up to a year, sometimes longer. Fantastic for those embarrassed by damp patches under the arms during business meetings and in other social situations.
Skincare It is important to support all these treatments with the best skincare that can be used at home to maximise the results of the treatments. At the Skin Rejuvenation Clinic we have Ultraceuticals which is specially formulated for Australasian skins and conditions and the Cosmedix and Results Rx range which are a practioner only skincare which are naturally based with no artificial additives and used by plastic surgeons worldwide.
